Josh Gwilt - Performing Les Miserables

Biography

Josh is a musician/performer from Reading, who has gained years of experience in the entertainment industry. Starting out primarily as a singer, Josh went on to become an established performer in the Berkshire amateur dramatics circuit for almost 10 years, showcasing his talents to audiences in thousand seater theatres in the local area. Along with being a keen performer, Josh kept going with his musicality by sustaining singing and drum lessons from an early age before picking up and self-teaching the acoustic guitar in his spare time at 15. He performed in many shows over the course of the 10 years including Fagin in Oliver (which he was nominated for a NODA award for outstanding performance), The Major General in Pirates of Penzance and Rum Tum Tugger in Cats - all of which were greeted with much praise from the audience. While juggling GCSE's and A Levels, Josh also managed to be a keen participant in yearly Berkshire singing competitions, picking up various gold

medals and taking home overall trophies including under and over 16 male twice respectively. Along with all the performing and musicianship, Josh also grew a love for electronic dance music, attending festivas such as NASS and We R Festival. This passion for electronic music led to him realising that he wanted to follow his dream of becoming a world renowned DJ and Producer. Following this realisation, Josh decided to apply for the Music and Sound Production course at Bournemouth University, which he is currently in his first year of. In the first few months of the course, he established himself amongst his peers and became friendly with a second year (Matt Cane) and bonded over their love of Jauz and similar musicians; this friendship led to the creation and birth of DJ duo, Corridub. A new DJ collective, which boasts mixes of all kinds of genres, are heading towards an exciting future with gigs popping up regularly in the Bournemouth area.
